Schools have genuine opportunities to help children learn how to connect more deeply to their work; an essential change in education that is needed to enable the development of 21st century abilities.

Children need an integrated, experiential learning, which develops in line with the growth of their networks of understanding. They need to be creative artists, scientists and explorers, tempered with respect for what has come before.

The adults in their world must understand the developmental nature of childhood. Parents and teachers need to work together to support and protect it in order that children flourish.

We need the confidence to know that the type of learning that will best fit children for the challenges of their 21st century, is a learning that depends on their engagement - and in order to win that necessary level of engagement we need to be vigilant that their childhood stays as healthy and vibrant as possible..
